Pop Pulse 1796
New from PopPulse, the PCM1796 really has the performance and build quality to become the new benchmark in the highly competitive affordable DAC market.
Keeping it simple, this unit does not feature any extras such as being a pre-amplifier or doubling as a headphone amplifier. Instead all effort has gone into making it into a superior quality Digital to Analogue Converter.
The two piece extruded aluminium box design serves to separate the high quality mains power transformer from the sensitive DAC conversion circuitry. This serves to enhance the dacs signal to noise ratio. As well as the usual optical Toslink and Coaxial digital SPDIF inputs, this DAC is also futureproofed by including a very high quality USB 2 input.
Using the CM-108 receiving chip, this USB input directly converts and feeds the data stream into the Burr Brown / TI PCM1796 DAC chip in the super low jitter I2S format (avoiding any needless conversion into SPDIF).
This DAC will not dissapoint. It has both the resolution and the finesse to take on and beat the competition.
